It is a good potboiler. Picked this up on a whim, after not having read it since it was first published. Knightfall It is essentially the best graphic novel period. Great format and action! For whatever reason, As others have already said, this is a great novelization of a Batman comic storyline. What I liked is that Batman is stripped of all his abilities. My next goal is to read the comic source material.

Denny O'Neil adapted his comic story into this prose novel. Rating - Knightfall - 5 stars, Knightquest- 3 stars, Knightsend - 3 stars, Overall - 4 stars. Based on the first part alone, "Knightfall" deserves a 5-star rating.

Pretty good and had a good plotline with a very good description of characters. Well written and provides some great description that you just can't get elsewhere.

The story of Bane is extremely powerful and the way in which he manages to outsmart and defeat Bats in absolutely chilling. Unfortunately the second and the third part of the book are definitely weaker. I am particularly fond of the descriptions f the various madmen in Arkham - they are all fantastic. However, I lost interest about halfway through, not because of the story itself but because of the character of Batman. Batman #487

When the storyline of Knightfall was in comics, I wasn't able to buy them but I was quite eager to read the story. The first part of the novel, Knightfall is one of the most epic pieces of literature I have ever read. Dennis O'Neil wrote and edited Batman, his credits as a writer and editor are like a roll call of honor from Green Lantern to Batman and beyond. Also included is the aftermath of the Knightfall Saga. This reading order contains the prelude issues as well as the entire Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd storylines.

This is one of those fundamental stories if one wants to know more about the dark knight. A friend loaned this to me last year before Dark Knight Rises came out.

Definitely worth a read if you're even a casual Batman fan. Robin Vol. This story too had potential, but it is not realized very well.

Krakin’ Krakoa #86: Why Does Sexuality in X-Men Comics Matter? This reading order contains the prelude issues as well as the entire Knightfall,  Knightquest,  and KnightsEnd storylines. The book really drags in the middle with a couple subplots that just aren't as thrilling as the main narrative, but the good parts are really great.

I'm a big fan of pretty much all comic-book superheroes, but Batman has a trait that no other DC or Marvel hero (that I know of, anyway) has: he doesn't have any actual superpowers.

As others have already said, this is a great novelization of a Batman comic storyline.

Batman #484 Good writing, interesting ending. Note: I read this novelization in conjunction with the newly released, [one who gets effectively lobotomized at the story's end so Bruce can miraculously return to form, Knightfall is an adaptation of a series of comic books of the same name. The final battle between Bruce and Jean-Paul is original, if a bit anticlimatic, but definitely not on the level of the first part of the novel. On the other hand the Idea of bane breaking all the inmates at Gothom out is enough to lead Batman on a wild ride;d. The ultimate graphic novel. Welcome back. It moves at a good pace; it has good characterization; it does a decent job of novelizing [is that a word?] X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills — The Extended Edition Review! First appearance of the “Venom” drug-steroid, later used by Bane. After the criminals escape from Arkham, Batman is running himself ragged trying to catch them. [ It ends with Tim Drake asking if Batman still existed and Bruce Wayne admitting that he was unsure about Batman's continued existence.

No, you don’t need to start with Detective Comics #27 to understand the modern Batman.DC Comics published Year One in 1987, and it’s the definitive origin story for Batman.This book is so important, its influences are obvious in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins and the pilot for Batman: The Animated Series. Although I typically read nonfiction books this was one of my favorite fictions ever written. They tell the story of the new Batman - Jean Paul Valley, the former assassin Azrael - and his gradual descend into madness. I loved how this book started.

Batman becomes weaker and weaker as each criminal is put away. Which destroys what Batman stands for. First … As Bruce Wayne begins the long process of recovery, he realizes he must choose a successor in his role as the Dark Knight.

It is essentially the best graphic novel period. Detective Comics #670, Detective Comics #671 Compared to the other Batman novel I attempted to read (The Batman Murders), it's a downright masterpiece.
