They could have been a way to mix up a character's moveset(with customs that were actually unique) while still letting people play the character in the old way. I usually find Sonic boring to watch too. I’ll probably still play with him a lot when the game comes out, but I just feel disappointed that Sonic was barely changed aside from a new dash and revamped final smash. Sonix doesn't have great results in DR (he's still #1 though) but in the US he has 4 top 21 losses (Nairo, Maister, Zackray, Lea) + number 34 at the time Yeti and Plup who is still really good. That's probably going to happen come evo to(Who am I kidding almost every wifi tournament is going to have a group of sonics hoping to win money). WiFi won't be the catalyst for it. Sonic is the cause of a character's "worst matchup" the most, and nearly invalidates some characters if he fully commits to playing campy if that is how that mu goes. If it genuinly ruins the meta in the future then yeah, sure, ban WiFi sonic, but until we actually see him win almost every event I see no reason to immediately say he should be banned. This happens in offline too, but it's much harder to do against good players when they can actually react to spin dash, so they're way more likely to get shut down off stream before they take someone to a 40 minute set with 15k people watching and tweeting ban sonic.
Sonix doesn't spend money he wins towards going to other tournaments, so the only way he's traveled to the US is if he's funded.
