What we have is a vampire film inexplicably set in a sun-drenched, arid western locale, wherein a couple looking to maybe do some swinging (if begrudgingly on the part of the wife) comes up against a beautiful woman with more poise and power than they can handle. Not super exciting but agreeably trippy, especially in some groovy-man dream sequences, and the gender politics, stilted acting, and gorgeous shag-carpet production design so perfectly prefigure the films of my new favorite thing Anna Biller, so much so that this seems like it has to be a specific influence. the version I watched on streaming looked terrible, and I didn’t care for the leading couple, but...Diane was a bi desert vamp dream. Providing further proof that women always make better exploitation films, this feels almost like the Rothman flipside to AIP's okay Count Yorga series, eschewing the stuffy LA manors for the endless sprawl of the California desert. The random racist characterization of the indigenous people in the film detracts from the otherwise gorgeous desert weirdness of this.
