Not sure if you're aware considering you didn't know them but Buckethead has close ties with a few people from the band! "A Day Will Come" adds a bit more crunch to the guitar, while "Humans Vanish" is a delicate solo guitar piece, and he finishes with a pretty straight blues on "...." All in all, this is Buckethead's most consistent, enjoyable work, with great playing and almost none of the flash he has displayed on previous releases. Excellent. Featuring Travis Dickerson on keys and Pinchface on drums (and Buckethead on guitars and basses), Population Override is as close to an instrumental early Funkadelic album as almost anyone has gotten (think "Maggot Brain). Eddie Hazel is awesome too, discovered this song when I was 16 and it left a huge lasting impact on me. I think the video of bucket playing Interworld and the New Innocence during Bernie's benefit concert is just one of my absolute favorite videos and performances of the song. Supposedly the story goes that Hazel and George Clinton (the voice at the beginning of the song) were tripping on acid in the studio and Clinton told Eddie to "play like his mother had died" and Maggot Brain was the result.
