Somebody told me that I shouldn't cancel my fall contract so I can get a better chance of housing in the winter qtr. You just need to wait and see for an announcement, which hopefully will be soon since orientation usually begins in july (i think).
don’t take my word for it, but I heard that you have to still pay for fall housing to have your winter/spring housing secured (there’s a petition going on right now to combat the policy—I’m just inferring information), it’s true that if you cancel the contract, you lose your reserved spot for the rest of the year....but from what I saw, it’s either that or keep your spot and pay for fall housing, to answer your other questions, ucr says you get a refund if you cancel within 14 days of the fall instruction announcement, and you will have to pay deposit for winter quarter if you cancel your yearlong housing contract, Yes it’s true, housing is based on first come first serve, so if you already have it you’re on priority to get one. I guess it really depends on which classes you take. As a transfer student, I have accepted my grants. When you guys begin to register for classes, there are academic advisors and also orientation leaders that will be around for guidance. It’s really hard to determine what stage we will be in, but if it makes you feel better, I got very little to no information at my orientation (the only useful thing was signing up for classes which was on the last day) AND we walked 6 miles around campus in 98 degrees. After receiving an acceptance into UCR I signed a contract to stay at a nearby luxury housing complex named Grand Marc. Eligible UC undergraduate students can enroll simultaneously in another UC's online course. i was like nope, that was the last time ill ever ask help from them. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted to UCR! Course credit is calculated in a student's UC GPA.
