We felt naughty reading it, and I was further shocked by my high school boyfriend’s mother reading adult Judy Bloom novels. First of all I never even heard of Farbrook. But fire is dangerous and powerful, and tragedy strikes.

I really think that Blume is an amazing author, and it’s incredible that she manages to get the mindset of preteen and teenage girls so right in her books. I think we left the city because of my grandmother, Sylvia Simon. And number two what would I care if they’re Jewish or not?
