Most of the $$$ went into athletic programs. There are still some seedy people and crime about the place. Carleton Place crime. CP has a few lovely pubs (St James Gate, Smith and Barrel) but the shops in “downtown” seem to struggle to survive. Carleton Place is the perfect fusion of modern convenience with small town charm. i died from being stabbed in that area last year. Chantal doesn't just sell you a house she took us from start to finish. Most of the poor youth who didn't have those opportunities ended up in trouble with the law very young. We like it! There's affordable housing if you look hard and long enough. If you work in the city, commuting can be relatively quick with the divided highway, but that same road can be a real bastard in blizzard conditions.
